Are you keep on receiving an error code when you try to open one of your companies in Quickbooks while the other companies are opening fine?.......code:  -6144, -82

Possible Reasons:

• The QuickBooks Transaction Log file (.TLG) and/or Network Data file (.ND) are damaged and need to be replaced.
• The folder permissions have not been setup to share the company files.
• Windows User ID(s) may be damaged.
• Other forms of data damage.=

Try the following solutions

     1. Try to rename the .TLG file and .ND File for your QuickBooks Company File.

     2. Solution 2. Set folder permissions.

3. If not all users are affected.

1. During troubleshooting, determine if only specific users are affected by this issue.
2. If yes, create a new Windows User ID on the system.
3. Test if that enables the company file to open normally.

    4.Try to use QuickBooks diagnostic tool called Quickbooks File Doctor

    5. Finally Restore a recent backup.

1. Restore a recent backup to a new file name.
2. If the restored file opens, reenter data.
3. Use the restored file going forward.

     1. Open QuickBooks, if a file opens automatically you can click Cancel at the login or go to the File menu and select Close Company/Logoff.
     2. Find the company file you receive the error with and single click on it.
     3. Note the location that displays below the list of companies, this is where your file is stored.
         
3. Find and rename the .TLG and .ND files for the QuickBooks file causing the error.
   • .TLG and .ND files have the same name as your company file with .TLG and .ND after the .QBW, i.e.,
     • your_company_quickbooks_file.qbw.nd.
     • your_company_quickbooks.qbw.tlg.
   • Rename by right clicking the file and selecting the rename option, click on the end of the file name and type OLD or some other text to identify that is a old file.
4. Go to your file server, open the QuickBooks Database Server Manager at Start > All Programs > QuickBooks.
5. Select or Add the folder where the QuickBooks file is stored.
6. Scan the folder.
7. Open the QuickBooks file from the workstation, you should no longer receive the error.

For Quickbooks getting the logs please do follow the following steps.

1. Start Quickbooks and open your company file
2. Press F2 key in your keyboard, it will open a window "Product Information"
3. Then press F3 key, it will open another window "Tech Help"
