1. Go to your desktop, Click on the "Start" button, Open My Computer or open it directly from your desktop icon.
2. Go to the folder location of the Company File that is causing the error.
   • I know where the file is located - You are smart. Go directly to the point 3.
   • I dont know where the file is located. Please follow the below steps
     
     1. Open QuickBooks, if a file opens automatically you can click Cancel at the login or go to the File menu and select Close Company/Logoff.
     2. Find the company file you receive the error with and single click on it.
     3. Note the location that displays below the list of companies, this is where your file is stored.
         
3. Find and rename the .TLG and .ND files for the QuickBooks file causing the error.
   • .TLG and .ND files have the same name as your company file with .TLG and .ND after the .QBW, i.e.,
     • your_company_quickbooks_file.qbw.nd.
     • your_company_quickbooks.qbw.tlg.
   • Rename by right clicking the file and selecting the rename option, click on the end of the file name and type OLD or some other text to identify that is a old file.
4. Go to your file server, open the QuickBooks Database Server Manager at Start > All Programs > QuickBooks.
5. Select or Add the folder where the QuickBooks file is stored.
6. Scan the folder.
7. Open the QuickBooks file from the workstation, you should no longer receive the error.
